Who, Me?

Hello Friend! My name is Devan Rohrich and I’m a psychotherapist who’s found his love of learning. Much of my inspiration comes from my journey through the Great Books of the Western World and the Great Ideas, which you’ll become familiar with soon. You’ll also find I draw frequently from Carl Jung, a 20th-century Swiss psychologist, who inspired me to reach back into history for solutions to modern problems.

We’re designed for more. No one wants to leave this world having never made a mark on it, improved it, or discovered something new about it. My writing is aimed at those who want more from life and seek a fuller understanding of it. Everything will be centered around six key principles of a “good life” — I hope that organizing everything in this way will give many of these abstract ideas a concrete foothold in your day-to-day life.

My drive comes from what I did not have. I grew up as the oldest in a very poor household and made plenty of poorer decisions (including nearly failing out of high school), yet somehow wound up excelling in university. My experience in college was one of true libertas; I was liberated by the ideas that I uncovered. Recently, I earned an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and currently work as a mental health therapist. I have a wife, a daughter, two cats, and many dear friends and family.

Above all, I hope that by following along, you’re able to transform your life into one well-lived.
